Seh Calaz Pleads With Police To Stop Throwing Tear Gas In Houses

Dancehall chanter, Seh Calaz, real name Tawanda Mumanyi has pleaded with the police to stop throwing tear gas in houses saying they are hurting vulnerable members of society including kids, the visually impaired and the elderly.

His remarks come amid complaints by residents around the Mereki area in Warren Park D that police throw teargas at the shops to displace revellers and sometimes throw in nearby houses causing harm to innocent residents.

In a plea made on social media, Boss Yala said the police should be humane in executing their duties and responsibilities. He said:

Asi nhai mapurisa pamunouya muchikanda ma teargas muhosteri munombozivawokuti tine vana here, tine machembere nemakule, tine vanhu vanorwara, tine vakaremara, tine mapofu vasinei nezvekuita nezve mabhero or ma vendor who suffer daily ne ma teargas enyu ,musadaro tambonyarara nguva yareba. Do the police know that we have the elderly, kids, people with disabilities and some who are sick in the hostels they are throwing tear gas? Not everyone is selling bales, we have been silent for too long!

Mapurisa munofanha murishamwari dzevanhu muchitichengetedza not all this, haisi choice kuita ma vendor vanhu vanotodawo kugara kudzimba asi nzara ndoinopinza vanhu pa ground, chimbokururai nyembe dzenyu mupinde muvanhu munzwe zvichemo zvevanhu. Police and the citizenry whould be friends, they should be protecting members of the public not all this harassment, being a vendor is the only way for them to fend for their families. Police should engage civilians and investigate their plight.

Mupedzanhamo usakavhurwa vanhu havambofa vakamira kushanda, by now makuziva kuti even mukakanda ma teargas sei havamire kurongedza musika and 80% Percent inotengesa apo havagare mumagaba mamunopostera ma teargas mudzimba, itai moyo musadaro. Lets work together vanhu ndevenyu ava. The closure of Mupedzanhamo (in Mbare) and throwing of teargas will not stop vendors from working. It is also important to note that the majority of people who sell their goods in Magaba area (Mbare) are not Mbare residents so you will be throwing teargas on the wrong people. Be humane, let’s wok together, these are your people.
