A Snake Park man has appeared before a magistrate on a murder charge after he reportedly murdered the fishmonger whose corpse was found floating in Lake Chivero last week.
Bright Zhantali (29), appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi over the weekend. He was not asked to plead and was referred to the High Court for bail considerations.

Allegations are that on 21 June at around 3 pm, Zhantali was wearing a shirt similar to the ones worn by Zimparks rangers when he met the now-deceased fishmonger, Nester Chiikwengo (45).
The two reportedly boarded a private Honda Fit and before they arrived at their destination, they disembarked ostensibly so that he would be seen by alleged co-workers on duty that he had fish.
They then used a path that is left of the boom gate. Along the way, Zhantali allegedly grabbed Chiikwengo and started demanding money from her.
He then took her US$30 and her cell phone and raped her. As she was screaming he gagged her and she died.
When the suspect realised that she had died, he took her clothes and bucket and burnt them at an anthill and went away.
Chiikwengo’s body was discovered on 4 July by Simon Makwansila of Kamba Caravan Park who was coming from prayers.
Zhantali was identified wearing the same attire by members of the public who effected a citizen arrest and handed him over to the police.
