Government To Settle Medical Bills Of Accident Survivors

The government has committed to settle the medical bills for the ten accident survivors including a lone survivor of the Zvishavane accident that occurred along Masvingo-Mbalabala road and killed 22 people.

The survivors are currently admitted at Gweru General Hospital and government through the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe has offered to help as they are struggling to settle their medial bills.

Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona made the announcement on Friday after visiting the accident victims at the Gweru General Hospital.

He also visited the scene of the accident where a Toyota Granvia vehicle had a head-on collision with a Toyota Wish. Said Minister Mhona:

_The whole nation has been gripped by this accident which happened in Masvingo recently. President Mnangagwa has sent us on a fact-finding mission with regards to the state of our roads as well as what is happening on these roads._

_We have seen that the survivor of the Masvingo-Zvishavane road who is now admitted here is recovering well. In the process, we saw it fit to also help these other accident victims struggling to meet their bills here and we need to expedite the process so that they get the necessary attention timeously._

In both accidents, the drivers lost control of their vehicles following a burst tyre.
