  2. Air Zimbabwe Resumes Domestic Flights
  3. Air Zimbabwe’s Collapse Coincided With The Appointment Of Mugabe’s Son-in-law

The minister also dismissed reports that the Air Zimbabwe administrator Reggie Saruchera was fired by the Office of the President. Saruchera was being accused of failing to transform the fortunes of the national carrier. Mhona said:

_To set the record straight the Air Zim Administrator was not fired but his term came to an end._

_Gvt as the shareholder of Air Zim has a duty to put in place an interim mechanism to ensure the airline continues its operations seamlessly._

_The Interim Board will serve in that position until the substantive Board Members have been appointed._

_We are upbeat that through implementation of good governance and accountability principles including mechanisms for regular reporting and feedback on crucial matters, the airline shall strive._

_As the Ministry, we congratulate the Interim Board on its appointment and wishes them every success in this journey._

The airline is saddled by a huge debt crisis that has made it impossible to turn around fortunes.

There have been negotiations between the national career and the government to cause the government’s assumption of the debt. that has for years crippled operations.

Air Zimbabwe currently operates two planes only.
