ZESA Sheds Light On Ongoing Debilitating Power Cuts

ZESA Holdings’ electricity distribution arm, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has issued an apology to its customers for the debilitating power cuts being experienced across the country.

In a statement Tuesday, ZETDC blamed the power outages on a system disturbance which it said originated from the region Monday from about 1 AM to just before 6 AM.

The power utility said its engineers are working round the clock to restore generation and power supply. The statement read:

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) would like to apologise to its valued customers for the loss of power supplies due to a system disturbance, which emanated from the region on 28th June 2021 from 0116hrs to 0542hrs.

The system disturbance resulted in the loss of generation at Hwange Power Station. The power supply system is unstable, leading to load curtailment in most parts of the country throughout the day.
