ZANU PF Blames Opposition MDC For Demolitions

ZANU PF Acting political commissar, Patrick Chinamasa blames the recent demolitions on the opposition MDC which controls most of the urban councils saying the party illegally allocated land.

The former Finance Minister, however, confessed ignorance on who was conducting the demolitions amid blame-shifting between MDC and the central government.

He speaks when hundreds of houses were razed down in Goromonzi over the weekend after vending stalls in Harare and Chitungwiza had also been destroyed. Chinamasa said:

_MDC run-councils have been corruptly dishing out land. There is no proper documentation on how the land has been dished out._

_The opposition party specialises in blaming all ills about urban areas’ challenges on the central government._

_Clearly, that is not true and l will take every opportunity in future to make sure that l correct the perception among citizens and you journalists._

_I do not know who is responsible for this clean-up campaign but what l know is that the chaos is due to the MDC government._

_All these developments happened within their jurisdiction, without any action to stop them whilst no proper planning was in place._

_They receive rates which should be going towards service delivery. Our major concerns of urban areas is the poor service delivery._

Scores of home seekers have over the years seen their houses destroyed by authorities who argued that the structures were on undesignated land.

They would have bought the stands from land barons led by senior political elites and or council officials.
