School Reopening Has Been Delayed - Govt

Cabinet has approved that the reopening of schools be delayed as authorities will be monitoring the coronavirus trends in the country.

Information Minister Senator Monica Mutsvangwa made the announcement at a post-cabinet briefing in Harare this Tuesday. Information secretary Nick Mangwana posted the update:

SCHOOLS OPENING DELAYED

The Nation is informed that Cabinet has approved that the reopening of schools and other learning institutions be delayed by 14 days. Govt will be monitoring the situation and a review will be made after 2 weeks.

Stakeholders in the education sector were urging the government to have school reopening delayed to at least August saying measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 were not in place yet.
