Calls For Football Resumption Intensify

Football fans in Zimbabwe have intensified calls for the resumption of the sport after the Sports and Recreation Commission authorised sporting activities that fall under the low-risk sport code were authorised to resume.

Fans were wishing for the resumption of football as the “entertaining” Chibuku Super Cup tournament was halfway. Pindula News present some of the responses to the circular issued by the SRC this Wednesday. One SRC follower said:

_Come on guys, I think Chibuku was organized & were following all covid regulations, soccer is the most followed & revenue-generating sport in the world. Can’t you find a permanent solution for professional football to resume? Covid will always be there, we can’t always ban & resume._

_Would be interested to know how football was left out of this list. What criteria did you use?_

Another one cited resources committed to the Chibuku Super Cup tournament as justification for the resumption of football. Read the comment:

_The chibuku tournament is in full swing. Is it not possible for the teams to complete the remaining fixtures? The teams and sponsors have invested so much. Food for thought._
