Musa Taj Abdul Gang Convicted Of Illegally Possessing Firearm, Ammunition.

Nine notorious armed robbers who were part of the gang led by Musa Taj Abdul have been convicted of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.

The robbers, Musa Taj Abdul, Liberty Mupamhanga, Prince Makodza, Godfrey Mupamhanga, Charles Lundu, Rudolph Kanhanga, Innocent Jairos, Tapiwa Mangoma and Carrington Marasha were convicted after a full trial.

The nine who were also facing other armed robbery cases which are still pending at the court were convicted despite denying the charges when they appeared before magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko.

Convicting the nine, Mrs Mateko said it was clear that they were acting in common purpose when they were arrested.

The gang, and Musa Taj Abdul, commonly known as Salim Rahman (46), haves on the police’s wanted list for nearly two decades.

They were arrested in Beitbridge in August last year together with a serving police officer who was sheltering them following a tip-off.

The gang had carried out several armed robberies and other crimes around the country.
