Vice President Constantino Chiwenga who doubles as the Minister of Health and Child Care Friday imposed a lockdown on Kwekwe in the Midlands Province after a businessman succumbed from COVID-19, an Indian variant.
Meanwhile, pictures circulating on social media suggest that Kwekwe residence are going about their daily tasks in defiance of the lockdown. See pictures below.

Fears abound over the complacency in Kwekwe considering that the B.1.617 coronavirus variant that was first detected in India can spread more and more rapidly.
Official reports suggest that about a dozen people in the Kwekwe have been infected by the variant.
