A picture of an alleged gold smuggler detained at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg after landing from Harare with gold worth over US$700 000.
The man, whose name, nationality and age are yet to be established, is expected to appear before a court in Kempton Park this Monday.
The accused was intercepted at O.R. Tambo by South Africa’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) on Sunday while carrying gold bars worth R11 million(US$700 000). See the picture below.

In October 2020, the president of the Zimbabwe Mining Federation, Henrietta Rushwaya was arrested at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport allegedly trying to smuggle about 6kgs of purified gold. The case is still pending.
