Kazungula Bridge: “Zimbabwe To Be Part” – Mnangagwa Official Opening Speech

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has in a speech at the official opening of the Kazungula Bridge said Zimbabwe will be part of the project.

He also described the commissioning of the bridge as historic and a great achievement in the SADC region. Mnangagwa who previously stated that Zimbabwe co-owns Kazungula Bridge said:

_This is a milestone achievement in our SADC region. I wish to thank sincerely my brothers, President Masisi and President Lungu, who in 2018 invited Zimbabwe to be part of this project, indeed in the fullness of time, Zimbabwe will be part of this project._

_I reiterate Zimbabwe’s commitment to be part of this project for the benefit of our SADC region_

Zimbabwe was initially part of the Kazungula Bridge project but the other two members left the then Robert Mugabe-led country after reports that it wasn’t fully committed to seeing the bridge being constructed.

It was believed, by Zimbabwe, that Kazungula Bridge would divert traffic (revenue) from the Beitbridge border post hence the alleged sabotage.
