Manchester United vs Liverpool Postponed After Fan Protests At Old Trafford
The Premier League has postponed a match between Manchester United and Liverpool which was set for Old Trafford on Saturday evening after fans breached security at the Stadium and invaded the pitch and dressing rooms.
Hundreds of fans got into the stadium ahead of the behind-closed-doors contest, which was originally scheduled for a 4.30 pm BST kick-off before being delayed and then called off completely.
Manchester United fans were protesting against the owners, the Glazers over their club’s role as one of the founder members of the proposed breakaway European Super League.
In a statement, the Premier League said the decision to postpone the match was reached together with the police, both clubs and local authorities.
The Premier League said a rearrangement of the fixture will be communicated in due course. The statement says:
