Julius Malema who leads the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) an opposition party in South Africa, has claimed that independence in that country is useless since the citizenry is still facing issues like hunger and poverty they faced in the colonial era.
Malema questioned, “what type of freedom is this?”
He insinuated that the former colonial masters still owned the means of production and were determining the course of everyone’s life in South Africa.

Malema also said the liberation fighters suffered for nothing since there was no tangible result of the gains of the struggle.
South Africa got independence in 1994 from Great Britain and is considered one of the fast-growing economies in Africa.
