SRC Clarifies On The Resumption Of Sports

The Sports and Recreational Commission (SRC) has said it only gave green light to the resumption of local competitions, therefore, stakeholders have to seek approval for international competitions. In a statement, SRC said:

Please note that the approval is a gradual resumption of training and local competitions only and you are required to make separate individual applications for regional, continental and international tournaments to the Minister through the SRC.

All competitions (local, regional, continental or international) must be separately applied for 30 days before the event and approved by the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation through the SRC. Regional, continental and international tours shall further be authorised by the Minister of Health and Child Care.

The SRC recently allowed sports to resume after suspending them for a year as a way to curb the transmission of the coronavirus pandemic that was first recorded in the country last year March.

Following SRC’s announcement that sports could resume, the Castle Lager Premier League announced that the domestic senior men football league will resume on the 15th of May.
