Truck Driver Shot In The Head In A Queue Along N1 Highway
A truck driver was shot in the head and critically injured along the N1 highway next to the Weigh Bridge in Musina, South Africa while following the queue this Monday.
In a post on their Facebook page, SA Trucker, an association of truck drivers in Southern Africa, said the suspects reportedly robbed many drivers before they shot the man.
Scores of people who commented on the post expressed frustration and anger over authorities’ failure to address issues to do with the safety of truck drivers.
A Zambian nation, Musazitame Zulu said: “This is what we go through as truckers at the borders. We cry out to relevant authorities but they turn a blind eye and a deaf ear. Who will speak for truckers? Corruption is high in the borders, in the end, the create congestion to create Corruption”.
“When the officers are told the minister will visit the borders, they make sure they clear the queue, but once the minister is gone it’s back to congestion.
