MSD Weather Report And Forecast – 26 March To 28 March 2021

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON FRIDAY 26 MARCH 2021 VALID UNTIL SUNDAY 28 MARCH 2021.

PREAMBLE

The cloud hand that was affecting both Matabeleland Provinces and Bulawayo Metropolitan into the Midlands resulted in isolated thunderstorms over these areas, with 21 mm (Kezi), 19mm (J. M. Nkomo International Airport) 16 mm (West Nicholson) and 11mm (Victoria Falls) being some of the highest falls. This cloud system is slowly drifting north-eastward into the Midlands, northern parts of Masvingo, Harare Metropolitan, as well as Mankato and later into all Mashonaland Provinces.

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW SATURDAY 27 MARCH 2021:

  • Isolated thunderstorms are expected over Harare Metropolitan, northern areas of Matebeleland North, and all Mashonaland Provinces, with mostly cloudy and warm afternoon conditions becoming mild towards evening.
  • Light rain remains probable in the morning hours over the northern areas of Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland Provinces. It should be mostly cloudy becoming less cloudy and much warmer later.
  • Matabeleland South, southern parts of Matabeleland North, Bulawayo Metropolitan and northern areas of Midlands are forecast to be mostly sunny, and warm, though mild early morning and toward evening.

  • Lightning can still strike from a distant cloud when the skies above you are mostly blue and cloudless (This is commonly called a “bolt from the blue”).
  • Isolated trees and shed have a high potential of being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Remember when you are close enough to hear thunder less than 30 seconds after you see
    lightning then you are close enough to get struck. It is safer to seek shelter in a closed building when this occurs.
  • When thunder roars, go indoors. Do not hide under a tree or in an isolated shed.
  • Keep physically distant from livestock and other people once a storm begins till it ends.
  • Do not ride at the back of a pick-up truck or a tractor during thunderstorms.

OUTLOOK

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY 28 MARCH 2021

Districts such as Beitbridge, Mwenezi, Chiredzi, into Chipinge should be cloudy, with mild and windy conditions that will permeate these areas expected to cover the rest of Matabeleland South provinces, Masvingo province, southeast areas of the Midlands and Manicaland provinces. The rest of the country (Bulawayo Metropolitan, Matabeleland North, northern parts of the Midlands, Harare Metropolitan, northern parts of the Midlands and all Matabeleland Provinces, should be mostly sunny and warm. with mild morning and evening conditions.
