Mnangagwa Warns Against Indiscipline Amid Factionalism Reports In ZANU PF

President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is also the leader of the ruling ZANU PF has warned party members against “indiscipline” which he said was now the main agenda of party meetings.

He made the remarks during Thursday’s Politburo meeting in the capital amid reports that the recently established District Coordinating Committees were a source of confusion within the party. He fumed:

Comrades, emboldened by our constitution and revolutionary ideology, let us continue entrenching intra-party democracy, unity, peace and harmony as the bedrock upon which we grow and strengthen our party.

The few pockets of indiscipline displayed by some cadres should be nipped in the bud.

The party leadership and membership alike must remain focused on mobilising the structures around productive socio-economic activities which will transform the quality of life of our people and lift many out of poverty.

We cannot afford to be pre-occupied by meetings which merely focus on gossip, rumour-mongering, petty jealousies and unfounded accusations.

The party is far bigger than individuals. Ukazvinyepera kuisa Zanu PF muhomwe mako unozokaruka wava muhomwe yeZanu PF (You cannot fool yourself into thinking that you own Zanu PF). Party haikwane muhomwe memunhu (The party is bigger than individuals).

The 78-year-old also urged party members to respect the ZANU PF constitution and to work towards promoting peace, harmony, and unity.

The same gathering was informed that the party’s Political Commissar, Victor Matemadanda had been appointed the country’s ambassador to Mozambique.

Analysts say the development was demotion by promotion and was punishment for the Deputy Minister of Defence’s recent “reckless” utterances with regards to the decimation of the opposition MDC Alliance.

Matemadanda had insinuated that the ruling party was responsible for the recalls of MDC Alliance legislators from Parliament by the MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora.
