South African Health Authorities Propose Strict Lockdown During The Easter Break

South African Health officials have proposed to their government to have a strict lockdown during the upcoming Easter Holiday to curb spreading the ongoing COVID-19, eNCA reports.

Sharing the news on Twitter, eNCA said:

[BREAKING NEWS] Ministerial Advisory Committee recommending stricter lockdown level for Easter weekend. If agreed to, the proposed measure will be implemented as a precaution and will be temporary.

This comes after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Southern Africa nation after the December festive season which might have informed the committee’s decision to have a strict lockdown during the holidays.

Meanwhile, German was set to impose a strict 5 days lockdown during the Easter holiday to try and stay ahead of the virus which has killed over 2.5 million people worldwide before it was reversed a few hours after it was announced.

It is still not clear if Zimbabwe and other African nations will follow suit and enforce a stricter lockdown to contain the virus too.
