Zimbabwe Weather Update: All Provinces Except Midlands, Masvingo & Manicaland Will Be Partly Cloudy Tomorrow

The Meteorological Services Department has released the following weather update that states that it will be partly cloudy in many parts of the country except for Manicaland Midlands and Masvingo:

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON FRIDAY 19 MARCH 2021 VALID UNTIL SUNDAY 21 MARCH 2021.

PREAMBLE
The weak cloud system over the western parts of the country resulted in isolated thunderstorms in Matabeleland north and south provinces as well as Bulawayo Metropolitan though the rainfall amounts were all below lOmm.The rest of the country (Harare Metropolitan, all Mashonaland, Masvingo, Manicaland, and Midlands provinces) was under mostly sunny and mild. It still remains relatively moist over the western parts of the county; therefore

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW SATURDAY 20 MARCH 2021

Matabeleland north and south, Bulawayo Metropolitan, Harare Metropolitan and all Mashonaland provinces should be partly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms being probable. The rest of the provinces (Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland) should be sunny and warns though mild in the morning with scattered clouds.

  •  Thunder can still strike from a distant cloud, when skies above you are mostly blue and cloudless (This is commonly called a “bolt from the blue”).
  • Hot daytime conditions may lead to dehydration
  • Crops might show signs of moisture stress

ACTIONS TO TAKE

  • Remember when you are close enough to hear thunder less than 30 seconds after you see lightning then you are close enough to get struck. It is safer to seek shelter in a closed building when this occurs.
  • Keep hydrated, drink adequate amounts of water daily.
  • Poultry producers should note that broilers are sensitive to temperature variations and therefore need to be checked regularly and adjustment made.
  • Fanner with crops that still need significant amounts of water should plan with irrigation in mind. NB: Pfumvudza plots are easy to irrigate even by hand.
