Police Detectives Intercept Automatic Rifles Smugglers
Police have arrested two men for alleged illegal possession of six automatic rifles. The suspects were arrested in Mwenezi, a district in Masvingo Province.
The suspects were caught in a game park and the rifles were stashed in the back of a Mazda B1600 vehicle.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said:
The suspects were intercepted at Gonarezhou Game Park in a Mazda B1600 vehicle.
Investigations so far indicate that the firearms were destined for Mozambique via Sango Border Post and all the firearms had obliterated serial numbers.
