ZimRights Dismisses As Fake News Reports About COVID-19 Fund

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) has refuted reports circulating on social media claiming it received $6.5 million from the Dutch Embassy to disburse to people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, ZimRights said it has not received any money from the Dutch Embassy and it currently does not any programme running that is giving cash handouts to people affected by the coronavirus. The statement read:

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association dismisses the fake message circulating on different social media platforms that we have received 6.5 million from the Dutch Embassy to assist citizens affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

ZimRights has not received such funds and we currently do not have any programme running that is giving cash handouts to those that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

ZimRights communicates via official organisational channels and our official social media handles.
