Zimbabwe Records Zero COVID-19 Deaths In 24 Hours

Zimbabwe yesterday recorded zero COVID-19 deaths for the second time this month. This was contained in an update that was posted by the Ministry of Health and Child Care that stated that the country recorded 20 new COVID-19 cases only yesterday.

The update also noted that 122 COVID-19 cases of the country’s total active cases of 899 are hospitalised with 3 individuals in Intensive Care Units countrywide:

Said the ministry in the update:

As of 9 March 2021 @1500hrs, there were 122 hospitalised cases, Assymptomatic 76, mild to moderate 24, severe 19, and 3 in intensive care units.

Harare still has the highest number of active cases, 490 of 899 active cases in the country are in Harare. 8 of the country’s new cases were also recorded in Harare yesterday making the city the virus’ epicentre.

The government has so far vaccinated close to 36 000 people, and according to the Minister of Finance, the government is planning to vaccinate 10 million people to achieve herd immunity.
