We Cant Prioritize Workers' Welfare Over Service Delivery - Marondera MDC Councilor
An MDC Councilor in Marondera’s Ward 10 during the town’s full council meeting yesterday said they cannot keep prioritizing council workers’ welfare at the expense of service delivery, Open Council reports.
Jimmy Jalifu implored other councilors to prioritize rate payer’s interests over council employees and reportedly said:
Recently, we gave our workers a cushioning allowance and today you are now considering pumping out more money to them but this is totally different from what is on the ground.
FeedbackThere is no service delivery to talk about where we come from. The workers are taking longer to deal with sewage problems, litter is everywhere. The residents are protesting to pay rates because of poor service delivery. We are lying to residents out there that we are improving, we need action on the ground.
We cannot keep on giving in to the demands of workers demanding more money while we are not seeing tangible things in service delivery.
