Rwanda First African Country To Use Pfizer

East African nation of Rwanda has become the first African country to use Pfizer a vaccine developed in America that needs extra cold storage, Reuters reports.

According to the international publication, Rwanda on Friday began distributing AstraZeneca and Pfizer doses to the citizens and the country is using helicopters to reach some parts of the country that are far from and not easily accessible to administer the vaccines.

Rwanda is first vaccinating health care workers and the elderly and Reuters spoke to some of the elders who were receiving the vaccine and most of them were optimistic about receiving the vaccines as they said their lives might be prolonged by the vaccine.

Rwanda is planning to vaccinate 30% of the population by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe is expecting a second delivery of China manufactured Sinopharm and over 30 000 people have been vaccinated so far.
