Warrant Of Arrest Issued For Mupfumira Cancelled 

A warrant of arrest that was issued for Prisca Mupfumira after she did not turn up for court has been canceled after she told the court that she was being guided by the date that was in Practice Direction 4 issued by Chief Justice Malaba during the national lockdown, The Herald reports.

Mupfumira who is jointly charged with Barnabas Matongera who used to work for NSSA is facing charges of paying US$3,5 million to a local land developing company towards the construction of low-housing units in Gweru without due tender processes and without the board’s approval.

After she explained the reason why did not turn up for trial, Mupfumira was remanded out of custody to 5 May 2021 and her trial will start then. Mupfumira made headlines in 2019 after she was arrested and she spent 21 days in pretrial detention after it emerged she might have siphoned close to $90 million during her tenure as the labor minister.
