Kaizer Chiefs: Khama Billiat Is Obviously Missed

Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has said the injured Khama Billiat is missed adding that the former Sundowns striker was recovering.

Hunt speaks amid reports that Amakhosi are looking to sell Billiat if the right offer comes along.

Soccer Laduma was told that the club has to exercise Billiat’s one-year option and “indications are that Chiefs plan to, otherwise they risk losing him without getting a cent.”

Contacted for comment about a possible move from Amakhosi, Billiat’s Manager Godrey Bakasa said the striker is currently focused on healing and getting back on the field. He said:

There are no talks yet (with Chiefs), they are just concentrating on him recovering. The team needs him fit and playing again, that is the situation at the moment. I think he is pretty much just doing non-weight training.

Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has also confirmed that Billiat (30), is back in training, reiterating, however, that the Warriors player was being missed. He said:

I think he is pretty much just doing non-weight training. His cast is off, so he is doing swimming pool stuff and upper body strength. He is obviously missed and hopefully we can get him back because that is an area where we certainly lack in numbers. But it is going to be some time, a broken leg takes some time.

Khama Billiat left Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018 despite being offered a huge contract by Pitso Mosimane who was the Sundowns Coach back then.

Meanwhile, his fellow Zimbabwean player Willard Katsande might also be offloaded by the club which is said to be going through some financial challenges.
