Zimbabwe recorded five (5) COVID-19 deaths on the 1st of March and the majority of them (3) were recorded in Manicaland while the rest were recorded in Mashonaland West.

In a daily update, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) indicated that the new fatalities take the total tally since March last year to 1468.

The ministry also indicated that as of 28 February, 157 people diagnosed with the coronavirus were hospitalised. Sixty-eight (68) of them were asymptomatic, 44 were moderate, 35 were severe while 10 were in Intensive Care Units (ICUs)

To date, Harare and Bulawayo have recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths with the capital having recorded 566 while the second-largest city has recorded 203.

Zimbabwe had for the past two days not recorded any fatality, a factor that was considered when President Emmerson Mnangagwa reviewed lockdown measures on Monday.
