ED Says Nothing About Reopening Borders

President Mnangagwa during his address a few minutes ago said absolutely nothing about reopening borders. The president addressed intercity travel and said intercity travel can resume and long-distance bus operators must adhere to COVID-19 regulations and busses must be disinfected and passengers must wear their masks and practice social distancing.

He also stated that schools should prepare to reopen but he did not give any specific dates for reopening. Said President Mnangagwa in his address:

Schools must prepare to open and put in place measures which – observe WHO protocols, Virtual or e-learning encouraged, Universities and colleges must prepare to open following WHO protocols.

He also noted that:

  1. 1 doesn’t need a letter to travel anymore
  2. Restaurants to open but for takeaways only
  3. Bottle stores to open for takeaways only
  4. Mask wearing still mandatory.

President Mnangagwa also said apart from the 600 000 doses expected soon, 1.2 million doses will soon follow. Meanwhile neighboring South Africa last night downgraded their lockdown from level 3 to level 1 but said all closed land borders should remain closed.
