Jairos Jiri Centre Appeals For Donations To Settle ZESA Bill

The Jairos Jiri Association Rusape Centre is appealing for financial donations to enable it to pay its bill to the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), a subsidiary of power utility ZESA Holdings.

Jairos Jiri Association Mukuwapasi Children’s Centre Manageress, H. Kuture said the institution had accumulated ZWL$100 000.00 as of January 2021 in unpaid bills to ZETDC. Said Kuture:

Most recently the Centre had a pre-paid metre installed on 28 January 2021. We were left with only 200 units of electricity to use.

We are anticipating that the schools will be opened soon and without electricity, the centre will be in a difficult situation to cater for the children.

The staff is currently contributing ZWL$500-00 monthly per individual that makes it ZWL$7 500-00 in total to buy ZETDC tokens which is not much considering that ZETDC is recovering 80% of the bill from every purchase made.
