Hollywood-based Zimbabwean actor, Arnold Tongayi Chirisa, is tonight set to announce the full list of the Star FM Listeners’ Choice Awards 2021 nominees.
The organisers of the show confirmed with The Herald that Tongayi Chirisa will make the announcement at 7 pm on their social media pages.
Meanwhile, Star FM head of programming, Steve Vickers, said the awards will be hosted virtually on March 13. Vickers said:
Our hashtag is “#RespectTheHustle” — it was a tough year, but so much good music was released, and we saw artistes embracing the new normal through online shows and continuing to record music.
Star FM also said “despite all the gloom fears and desperate times that we have faced as a nation and the world at large, music has kept us entertained, encouraged and inspired.”
The radio station added that musicians have proven that music is more than a source of livelihood but a powerful vehicle of communication and entertainment. Added Star FM:
It is thus important for us to #Respect The Hustle as it is a hustle that provides hope and encouragement for many lives, as well as a source of livelihood for musicians and the music industry at large.
We say thank you to every musician for the role they have played and encourage them to continue to uplift the nation through these trying times where hope seems so far-fetched.
Star FM said the key objectives of the Star FM Music Awards are to promote musicians and music industry practitioners, and to recognise the accomplishments in the Zimbabwean music industry.
The event, which is in its third edition, comes as the nation is mourning the sudden departure of prominent Zimdancehall chanter and liberation hero, Soul Jah Love who died last week.
