Matebeleland South Receive 11k COVID-19 Doses

Matabeleland South Thursday night received 11 000 of the Sinopharm Covid19 doses, the provincial medical director Dr. Rudo Chikodzore said.

Dr. Chikodzere said they were already working on distributing the vaccines to the seven administrative districts. She said:

By end of the day tomorrow we will have reached out to all the districts.

We have a team on standby to fix all the emergencies relating to power cuts and functionality of the cold rooms.

She also said the vaccines will be used on the province’s frontline staff who include health workers and border personnel.

Matabeleland South has five border posts although only two including Beitbridge and Plumtree are open to commercial and selected traffic under the current lockdown-related protocols.

The other ports of entry are Maitengwe, Mpoengs and Mlambaphele all bordering with Botswana.

Meanwhile, Masvingo has received 22 000 COVID-19 doses of the same vaccine.
