South Africa’s president and health minister, in that order, Cyril Ramaphosa and Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday received COVID-19 vaccines.
Ramaphosa and Mkhize were among the first group of people, largely constituted of health caregivers, to receive the vaccine.
This is happening at the backdrop of mixed feelings over the vaccine which some say might have side effects on humans since trials were not conducted over a long period of time.
