Zimbabwe's Processed Food Exports Increase

According to Zimtrade exports of Zimbabwe’s processed foods, in the year 2020 grew by 17%, the Chronicle reports. This was contained in a report that was released by the trade development and promotion agency which stated that:

Processed Foods (PF) exports have been increasing gradually. Last year alone exports of PF grew by 17 percent, said the agency. This is indicative of the potential that the sector has.

The publication has said the processed foods sector has been growing over the last 2 years:

It is one sector that has seen steady growth in exports over the past few years, recording a 17.96 percent growth, from US$98 million in 2019 to US$115 million in 2020, according to Zimstat. In 2018, the sector recorded US$71.2 million in exports.

Meanwhile. many parts of the country are expected to have a bumper harvest after Zimbabwe received above-normal rainfall in the 2020/2021 rain season.
