Al Ahly, Zamalek Revive Khama Billiat Interest - Report

Khama Billiat’s agent Godfrey Bakasa said that there is no rush to start negotiations for an extension to the player’s contract at Kaizer Chiefs as his return to fitness is currently the priority.

This follows reports claiming that Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek are ready to pounce on the 30-year-old Zimbabwean international and snatch him from Amakhosi.

Billiat has been sidelined nursing a leg fracture and is expected to be back at full fitness in March.

His current deal with Amakhosi is set to expire at the end of the season, but Chiefs have an option to extend the deal by another year, an option that they believed to be willing to exercise.

Responding to rumours claiming that Egyptian clubs are interested in signing Billiat, Bakasa reiterated the fact that the player still has a contract with Chiefs. He said:

Khama still has a running contract with Kaizer Chiefs. So any interest right now is going to be made through Kaizer Chiefs, or are made through Kaizer Chiefs.

So I can’t really confirm that question [if it’s true that Zamalek and Al Ahly are interested].

I think both parties right now are really looking into getting Khama fit so that he plays the remaining games and if there are negotiations being made, it will be announced in due course.
