Esther Massundah NBSZ's Spokesperson Dies

Ms Esther Massundah, the National Blood Services of Zimbabwe (NBSZ)’s spokesperson and public affairs manager has died.

Her death was confirmed by the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Relations which said she died on Tuesday morning. Said the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Relations:

It is with a heavy heart that the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Relations notify you on the passing on of one of our members Esther Massundah who was leading the National Blood Services Communications strategy. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course. Let’s remain resolute and steadfast in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.

The institute also said funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

This is happening when Zimbabwe is experiencing a resurgence of the coronavirus prompting authorities to reimpose a strict national lockdown to curb the spread of the pandemic.

As of 8 February, Zimbabwe had officially recorded a total of 34 658 coronavirus cases and 1 339 deaths while 28 825 had recovered from the deadly virus.

The Southern African country is in the process of procuring the COVID-19 vaccine with authorities saying about US$100 million has since been mobilised.

Recently, the People’s Republic of China donated 200 000 jabs of its vaccine to Zimbabwe.
