Lockdown, Curfew Order Still In Force - Police

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reminded members of the public that the national lockdown and curfew order is still in force.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in major cities across the country, motorists are transporting commuters in blatant violation of lockdown measures while some are bribing police officers to be allowed to pass through security checkpoints.

Nyathi warned that those found on the wrong side of the law will be dealt with accordingly. He said:

Motorists are advised against conniving with unruly security service members to gain passage at the checkpoints as they will be dealt with in terms of the law.

The police have noted that some members of the public have become complacent and are now violating the national lockdown measures in various suburbs in the country and committing various offences, which include unnecessary movement, liquor offences and others.
