JUST IN: MDC-A Vice Chairperson Job Sikhala Freed
Opposition MDC Alliance’s national vice-chairperson, Job Sikhala was on Monday granted a ZWL$25 000 bail.
Granting bail, Justice Chitapi ordered Sikhala to reside at his home, to report at St Mary’s Police Station once a week every Friday between 6 am and 18:00hrs and not to interfere with witnesses or evidence.
Sikhala was arrested on January 9 and charged with peddling falsehoods after alleging that a police officer hit and killed a little baby with a baton.
The state says the said police officer did not beat the child and its mother, who are both sound and safe, adding that he smashed the windscreen of a commuter omnibus which then hit and injured the two.
Sikhala’s remarks came after the circulation of a video in which it was being suggested that the police officer had killed the baby.
