Mwonzora To Recall Khupe Loyalists From Parliament, Councils
MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora is expected to recall legislators from Parliament as well as councillors who have remained loyal to the party’s former acting president Thokozani Khupe.
The party’s spokesperson, Witness Dube told Business Times this week that the matter was under consideration. Dube said:
We know that our principal is not happy with some of the party members whom he has accused of wanting to cause disharmony in the party by continuing to support madam [Thokozani] Khupe; these include MPs and councillors.
FeedbackWe expect to see more of them being recalled [from Parliament and council].
The party’s chairman, Morgan Komichi, also confirmed the development saying he has received complaints from some MPs and councillors wanting to be protected from recalls.

In 2020, the MDC-T recalled more than 35 MDC Alliance MPs and councillors who had remained loyal to opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.
Mwonzora was elected MDC-T president after beating Khupe, Morgan Komichi and Elias Mudzuri at a chaotic and violent extraordinary congress held in the capital at the end of December last year.
