Zimbabwe's Business Leaders Offer To Finance COVID-19 Vaccines - Report
President Mnangagwa who had to cut his annual leave short to come and preside over the burial of 3 national heroes last week, will tomorrow meet with business leaders who have offered to finance COVID-19 vaccines, Business Recorder reports.
This was reportedly revealed by the Acting Health and Child Care Ministry Secretary Dr. Robert Mudyirandima who told the parliamentary portfolio on health that President Mnangagwa will meet with the business leaders willing to help the cash-strapped government tomorrow. According to Business Recorder:
Acting Health Secretary Robert Mudyirandima said President Emmerson Mnangagwa would on Tuesday meet business leaders who have offered to finance vaccines to help out the cash-strapped government.
FeedbackZimbabwe is also in contact with the World Health Organization’s COVAX scheme set up to deliver shots to poor and lower-income countries. Harare hopes to use COVAX to inoculate about three million Zimbabweans – or 20% of the population.
Meanwhile, according to Dr. Manangazira another Health Ministry official, China and Russia have offered Zimbabwe their vaccines. The UK offered to vaccinate 20% of Zimbabwe’s population last month.

Dr. Mudyirandima has said once the government gets their hands on the vaccine, MPs, Ministers, members of the security sector and frontline workers will be prioritized.
