Zimbabwe Records Its 2nd-Highest Daily COVID-19 Recoveries

Zimbabwe has recorded it’s second-highest number of daily recoveries after 1511 patients recovered from the virus on the 22nd of January.

The highest was over 1 700 recoveries back in August 2020.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care reported in its daily situation report the new recoveries pushed the total number of recoveries since March last year to 21 080.

The Ministry also reported that 280 patients were hospitalised. Of those hospitalised, the condition of 179 was mild to moderate; 81 were in Severe while 20 were in intensive care Units.

Zimbabwe now hs a total of 30 523 cases since March last year when the first case was recorded.

On 22 January, Manicaland recorded 105 new coronavirus cases, the highest number of the day.

Meanwhile, Harare remains the hardest hit province followed by Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe is experiencing a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic with authorities suggesting it is likely being worsened by the emergency of a new aggressive strain that was first detected in South Africa.
