Met Department Reveals Severe Tropical Storm Eloise's Path

Here is the alert on the Severe Tropical Storm Eloise issued by the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) this Friday, 22 January 2021, at 0800hrs.

The Tropical System named Eloise has strengthened and is now a SEVERE TROPICAL STORM, with indications of further strengthening in the next 24 hours.

This is just before it makes landfall just south of Beira tomorrow, Saturday 23 January 2021.

Temporary reduction of moisture is expected over the southern half of the country this afternoon, Friday 22 January 2021 due to the position of the Severe Tropical Storm Eloise.

By evening, rains associated with the cloud-bands of the tropical system Eloise should start off in the southern parts of Manicaland Province.

Thereafter, widespread rainfall is expected countrywide from Saturday 23 to Sunday 24 January 2021.

Heavier falls (in excess of 50 mm) probable in parts of Matabeleland South, southern areas of the Midlands, Masvingo and Manicaland provinces.

Monitoring will continue with regular updates being issued every 12 hours or sooner if scenario changes (as is common with such phenomenon).
