Mashonaland West Province for the second time in a week has recorded the highest number of deaths per province after the province recorded 15 deaths yesterday. The development was communicated by the Ministry Of Health which stated that 52 people succumbed to the virus in 24 hours.
The Ministry gave the following statistics of COVID-19 deaths that occurred in different provinces and said:
- Mashonaland West – 15
- Mashonaland Central – 11
- Harare – 9
- Mashonaland East – 7
- Manicaland – 5
- Bulawayo – 4
- Masvingo – 1
Matabeleland recorded 0 deaths while Harare also recorded the highest number of new cases after 251 people tested positive for the virus.
The UN Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus yesterday said 2 billion vaccines have been secured so far as he discouraged rich countries from vaccinating their younger people before older people in poor countries are vaccinated.
