Zimbabwe Sees COVID-19's Deadliest Day As 60 People Succumb To The Virus In 24 Hours

Zimbabwe saw its COVID-19 deadliest day as 60 people succumbed to the infamous COVID-19 virus yesterday. The development was communicated by the Ministry of Health which revealed that 36 of those people died in the Harare Province alone.

The Ministry also stated that Matabeleland South and Mashonaland East did not record any COVID-19 death as it gave the following statistics:

  • Harare  – 36
  • Manicaland – 10
  • Midlands – 5
  • Masvingo  – 3
  • Matabeleland North – 2
  • Mashonaland Central – 2
  • Bulawayo – 1
  • Mashonaland West – 1

This brings the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths, since the first COVID-19 death, that of Zororo Makamba,  was recorded on 23 March 2020.

The update also revealed that Harare Province remains the coronavirus’s epicentre as 339 out of 689 positive cases recorded in Zimbabwe yesterday were registered in Harare.

The update also stated that 0 PCR tests were done in 4 provinces but 183 new cases were recorded in the 4 provinces.
