Model Raped During Private Photoshoot

An 18-year-old model was raped by a 33-year-old man in Bulawayo during a private photoshoot last year.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police are investigating the incident. He said:

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating a case of rape in which a complainant (18) was raped during a photoshoot by a suspect (33) in Bulawayo in December 2020. Models are urged not to go for private photo shootings without being accompanied by other women.

In a related incident which occurred in September last year, a 19-year-old Harare model was raped after she was lured to a private location by a man she had befriended on Facebook.

According to police, the young woman who resides in Waterfalls was invited for modelling auditions by the unnamed man.

When the woman went to the rendezvous for the purported auditions, she was raped by her Facebook friend.

The man was however arrested and was expected to appear in court to face rape charges.
