Cyclone Chalane: No Major Damage Has Been Recorded So Far
Cyclone Chalane which made landfall in Madagascar, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe this past week has weakened and has finally dispersed with its remnants moving towards Botswana, The Herald reports.
The cyclone did not leave any major damage and no one was injured by the Cyclone which came less than 24 months after devastating Cyclone Idai. 9 Houses’ roofs were partially destroyed in the province.
The Civil Protection Unit CPU released a statement saying a bridge in Mtshabezi was washed away but apart from that the Cyclone did not cause major damage in Manicaland:
Electricity and mobile network coverage was temporarily disrupted across Manicaland province due to strong winds and efforts were underway to bring the services back to normal.
Regarding roads infrastructure, one side approach to Mtshabezi Bridge was reported to have been washed away. In Chimanimani District, a feeder road between Chikwizi and Muuyuweburi (Biriri) was also washed away

The Province reportedly did not even receive heavy rains yesterday according to Manicaland Provincial Development Coordinator Mr. Edgars Seenza who said:
Nyanga and Chimanimani districts had light rains today. In terms of damages by the tropical depression, we are still compiling. The only reports we have were of nine houses whose roofs were partially disturbed in Chimanimani and a few trees that fell in Skyline but have since been cleared.
