PICTURE: Govt Charging Private Wards At Mpilo In US Dollars

The government is reportedly charging US Dollars at the Mpilo Hospital Private wards since September 2020. A memo sent to Pindula by a source shows that one of the country’s largest referral hospitals is changing $60 per day for a 4 bedded ward $ 80 for a 2 bedded ward and $200 per day for a ward with an en-suite.

The memo also charges a deposit of $250 for a minor operation and double that amount for a major operation. Patients in private admission will pay the doctors directly. The hospital also stated that before a patient is admitted, a deposit of ward fees for 5 days has to be paid.
