Police Warn 'Maskless' Drivers 'Cramming' Passengers In Kombis
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned commuter omnibus (kombi) drivers against “cramming” passengers in their vehicles as they have been doing in Harare and Bulawayo.
In a statement on Thursday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police will not hesitate to take action against offenders. The statement read:
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is warning kombi operators not to cramp people in their kombis as witnessed this morning in some parts of Harare and Bulawayo.
FeedbackDrivers are not putting on facemasks, not practising social distancing and putting four passengers at the front seat. The police will take stern action against such offenders.
Above all, only kombis contracted to the ZUPCO franchise are allowed to ferry passengers.
