Magistrate Denies Jailed Rural Teacher Bail On The Basis That She Will Lose At The High Court - Report

According to the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe, ARTUZ, a Masvingo Magistrate identified as Ndlovu denied jailed rural teacher and ARTUZ official Sheilla Chisirimunhu bail pending an appeal at the High Court on the basis that she will lose the appeal at the High Court.

This was revealed by ARTUZ in a tweet that said:

Bail application pending High Court Appeal Update: The Mugabe Rhodes Scholarship beneficiary Magistrate M Ndhlovu who convicted and imprisoned Cde Sheila has surprisingly denied her bail on dubious grounds that she will lose the case at High Court, cry my beloved Zim #FREESHEILA

Chisirimunhu was jailed this week for protesting against poor salaries in Masvingo a few months ago.

A few weeks ago, High Court judges complained about the JSC especially Chief Justice Malaba’s interference in their judgments in a letter to President Mnangagwa that leaked to the public.
