MDC Youths Launch Campaign To Dislodge ED
Opposition MDC Alliance youths have launched a campaign premised at dislodging president Emmerson Mnangagwa from power in 2023 when his current term ends.
The campaign which is dubbed #One Million Campaign entails mobilising one million votes mainly from Zanu PF strongholds in rural areas.
MDC Alliance youth spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma, said the campaign was progressing well. Speaking to NewsDay, Chuma said:
The #OneMillionCampaign is our vehicle to victory in the fight against Mnangagwa’s corrupt military dictatorship.
The campaign seeks to mobilise, educate, recruit and radicalise new one million youth voices that will take this regime head-on to solve the economic, social and political rot in the country.

We are convinced the source of this decay is an illegitimate regime that stole the will of the majority who happens to be young people. We are now going village by village through the #OneMillionCampaign to coalesce young people to reclaim their stolen victory.
He further claimed that they have received an overwhelming response from young people particularly those in the rural areas who are yearning for leadership change in the country.
Chuma also said the MDC Alliance had managed to invade Zanu PF’ strongholds.
The MDC has for long been urged to invade ZANU PF strongholds, the rural areas, which the opposition has been neglecting, if it wants to increase chances of dislodging ZANU PF from power.
Some analysts have opined that the opposition is currently at its weakest point which is not a good thing as the nation gears up for the 2023 harmonised elections.
Another issue political analysts have raised is that of the polarised political playing field which is said to be favouring the ruling party.
MDC Alliance’s leader, Nelson Chamisa, last year vowed not to contest in 2023 elections if reforms have not been implemented.
He has since 2018 to date claimed that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), in connivance with ZANU PF, rigged the 2018 election in favour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
